Prato al Futuro (Prato looks to the future) is a communication and participation process established by the Municipality of Prato to accompany the preparation of its new “Piano Operativo” (the urban development plan).
It is a rich programme of events and places, both physical and virtual, where residents, associations, professionals and entrepreneurs can be encountered and the general vision for the social, cultural and economic development of the city of Prato shared with everyone.
Il Piano Operativo
Il “Piano Operativo” (the urban development plan) is a planning instrument which, starting with a general vision of the social, cultural and economic development of the city of Prato, formulated by the Administration in the Guidelines, establishes in detail where, how and to what extent it is possible to intervene in the transformation, enhancement and protection of the municipal region, in both urban and agricultural areas.

The four thematic axes
The participatory process covers a period of four months, from September to December 2017. Each month provides a programme rich in opportunities to gain knowledge and participate in each of the four broad thematic axes, around which the development of the city that the new Operational Plan is called on to interpret will be structured. Each thematic axis will give rise to different types of events, from meetings with citizens to workshops aimed at designers and professionals and more recreational initiatives, which will actively involve all citizens. Without forgetting the Operational Plan for children, a “path within a path” created especially for the young.
